It’s not really property themed, but it’s pretty fun. You know how there are some parts of the world that have an unusually high number of very old people? And they usually have some secret to their longevity in their diet or daily routine?

It turns out their secret was just fudging their actual birthdate.

Look at what happens to the number of Supercentenarians (100 yos) when mandatory birth certificate recording is introduced (via Marginal Revolution):

An 80% drop overall and 70% drop per capita. Amazing.

I’ve gotten the day of my birthday wrong (true story), but not the year. Point is the old folks didn’t make a mistake. They’re just putting us on.
