It's not Cambridge that would account for a baby bump in Suffolk County: Cambridge is Middlesex County.

Suffolk County is basically just Boston: Chelsea, Revere, and Winthrop make up the rest, and (before county government was abolished) the Boston City Council would periodically have a pro-forma meeting as the Suffolk County Commission.

It is noteworthy, and surprising to many, that Boston's urban area is on balance low density. It's higher density than Atlanta, but the next highest population urban areas with lower density than Boston are St. Louis, Pittsburgh, Cleveland, Indianapolis, and Cincinnati. Its 1656 square mile urban area is larger than those of LA, Miami, Washington, Phoenix, Detroit, Seattle, or San Francisco (all of which have larger or rough peer populations: it's not that much smaller a sprawl than the 20% denser Houston or Dallas). You don't have to go that far from downtown before quarter acre lots are the norm.

Arguably those Boston suburbs with 3-5k per square mile are the ideal places to raise kids.

Very cool chart on energy. I wouldn’t have guessed that it took that long for petroleum to overtake coal.

Propane was also considered a wasteful product of crude production.
