Holiday shopping bonanza
Good news, everybody.
The holiday season is expected to be an ecommerce shopping bonanza!
While the precise health of the Almighty Consumer is a bit of a moving target, Random Walk continues to maintain a “meh, it’s fine” rating. Everyone is still pretty well employed, and while consumers have demonstrated caution, they still can afford to buy stuff.
Goldman has a nice little dashboard to capture the bigger picture:

Spending and income both muted, but employment, “wealth” and (low) debt, all pretty good.
That’s been the picture for about a year now, and while there have been some hiccups (especially lately), there’s not enough evidence to expect a big change one way or another. People are fine.
Not great, not terrible. Fine. The middling middle.

Anyways, back to holiday season.
Some data suggests that holiday shopping is going to be gangbusters this year.
